KARIN ANN
Are you even more excited now because it’s your second EP?
What are the „side effects of being human“ ?
I´m really excited especially in terms of the fact that i wrote the first EP when i was 14/15 and when it came out i was 19 so it didn’t represent the most current me, this 2nd EP is a more accurate representation of who i am now.
many things can be the side effects of being human, i think it’s things that everyone goes through in everyday life, especially when becoming an adult and figuring themselves out. i talk about some of these issues on the new EP
Do you read press reviews and fan comments after you release new music?
i like reading direct messages that my followers write to me, but i try and stay away from comments on youtube or blogs because that is where you’ll find most of the hate comments
In your lyrics, you talk about important things like mental health, toxic love, feminism. Do you think there is a change in pop music – are lyrics more essential nowadays?
i think lyrics always have been very important because humans want to express emotions and feelings and in my experience it all just comes down to wanting to find a like minded community cause nobody really wants to be alone. I am very open in my lyrics and i try to be as authentic as possible, i really like that artists nowadays are more open to talk about important subjects in music and not just love or just more positive sides of life
The world seems to be a lost and cruel place sometimes. What is the best way for you to spread love and hope?
trying to be authentic, trying to see things objectively and not get influenced by negative people.
„ am very open in my lyrics and i try to be as authentic as possible, i really like that artists nowadays are more open to talk about important subjects in music and not just love or just more positive sides of life“
You once said equality is just show. Is it something you have personal experience with as a young woman in music industry?
i think any non white cis straight male artist has it a bit tougher, there’s people have it a lot harder than me and there’s people who have it a lot easier than me, i hope in the future there will be a world where there won’t be such a difference in things
Free your mind: Which change would be the most important according to equality, feminism, sexism, racism etc.?
it would be really unfair and impossible to choose just one, in some countries one can be more important than the other but in no place is there equality
You got some hate via social media. Why do you think it’s still a thing for people to get angry and become abusive on the internet?
i try my best to stay away from comments like that.
it’s kind of insane how one negative comment you see can ruin your day even if you’ve seen 20 positive comments that day so I try to stay away from comments in general. But overall if someone is angry and offensive i find that it’s usually just that person projecting their insecurities and their negative emotions onto others
Listening to all of your songs so far: What would be your personal favorite and why?
every song is different and tells a different story so they’re all important to me, because they’re all a part of me
Tell us about your favorite spots in Slovakia. Which cities or places do you we have to visit when traveling there?
the mountains in slovakia are pretty amazing
Have you ever been to Germany? Are you excited to be on tour with Alfie Templeman – what are you looking forward to?
i’ve been to germany once or twice with my younger sister when she had dancing competitions there but that was years ago so i don’t even quite remember it so the tour is a great opportunity to get to know Germany.
i am super excited to be playing live again and i’m also super excited about the fact that i’m gonna be on tour with a friend of mine
(Anm. d. Red.: Hier gibt es Termine & Tickets!)
What is your favorite piece of clothing?
i think my jewelry is the most consistent piece so if i had to choose it would probably be that
„i am super excited to be playing live again and i’m also super excited about the fact that i’m gonna be on tour with a friend of mine“
Which would be your favorite artist to collaborate with – and why?
there’s way too many to choose from
Who was your first teenage idol/ crush?
i don’t remember exactly who was first but it was probably one of these zac efron and joe jonas from disney channel and then jacob black from twilight, jack from titanic or will turner from pirates of caribbean
Last words. Do you have something to scream into the world? 🖤
i hope everyone can be free to express themselves and if they’re not safe to do that them i hope they’ll find some comfort in my music or my community
